Itinerary

Guided by Nick and his team, join Run Weekends for 6 days of exceptional trail running. You'll join a group of no more than 16 runners of all abilities to North to South of the stunning island of Corfu. Since the Corfu Trail was established in 2001, it's become a special place for hikers in Europe. What's better than hiking - running of course. The Corfu trail route leads you into a landscape untouched by the mass tourism along parts of the coastline, delving through the central countryside which visitors rarely discover and explore. Such is the variety of Corfu's scenery you'll spend no more than a few hour in any one landscape; indeed, around every corner a new panoramic view emerges. This trail is in Nick's top 3 of trails anywhere in the world - that says it all! From the vast beaches and juniper dunes in the island's south, through the rolling olive groves of the central section, to the Karst plateau and rugged gorges in the north, the Corfu Trail reveals an island paradise ideal for a glorious Run Weekend.

Day 1 - Saturday 13th Sept 2025

We ask that you fly into Corfu's only airport anytime before 16:00 where we'll welcome you and gather the rest of the group for a shuttle to our first nights accommodation (Shuttle leaves at 16:00). Remember - pack a bag to run with and a bag for your luggage, snacks and change of clothes. The beauty of this Run Weekend isn't just the views - we'll transport your bags to the end of each day so you can run free without the need to carry everything. Your first night is in an all inclusive hotel (but still good quality), in the far North of the island. After the hour shuttle journey Nick will host a dinner and briefing for the week ahead.

Day 2 - Sunday 14th Sept

Sea to Summit: 23km, 1100m - Agios Spyridon to Spartilas

Here we go... the first 23km of 160km. An early start with breakfast at first light. The route today is a beautiful ascent from sea-level to the highest point in Corfu - Pantokrator.  Drinks will be on hand at 7km and then again at 12km as we pass through the oldest town on the island - Old Perithia heading up and up. Once summiting we'll descend into Spartilas. Expect incredible scenery with views of Albania, Greece, and of course the rest of Corfu ahead of us. Remember we are at the mercy of the heat in September. We all run together - no speed demons please.

An old rural village ruin in Corfu
Day 3 - Monday 15th Sept

Cross-Country Mountain Trail: 28km, 1000m - Spartilas to Agios Giorgos

With 1100m of elevation in your legs from yesterday, it's another hilly route with plenty of small single track paths - we'll be hiking the steep bits over some chunky rocks. We will be well and truly in the mountains as we zigzag through quaint Greek mountain villages. There's cafes to top up on snacks, water and souvenirs but be prepared for a heavy leg day. Our price for the day is the sight of the seafront of Agios Giorgos beach where we'll be staying for the night.  We'll grab a photo or two and head to another tasty group dinner. Remember all your meals are included, but bring extras if you want more. (One drink per meal)

Long distance hiking thorugh the mountains of Corfu
Day 4 - Tuesday 16th Sept

Cameras Out: 18km, 500m - Agios Giorgos to Paleokastritsa

Before we run up and out of the confines of the bay, we'll head to the famous view point of Porto Timoni Beach. This is likely to be the only busy spot on the route, but the views are worth it and with a shorter running day we can take our time. As we say goodbye to the most photographed spot on the island keep your cameras at the ready because the views get even better once we get higher again. Today will be our most laid back day - we'll even enjoy a beach club in the afternoon.

An aerial view of a beautiful Corfu scene
Day 5 - Wednesday 17th Sept

The Valley: 24km, 600m - Paleokastritsa to Pelekas

Another early start having rested for most of the yesterday afternoon will gift us new terrains. Today leads you out of the beautiful Paleokastristsa and back into the wilderness. For the first and last time you'll enjoy the only open valley section of the Corfu trail. You'll notice the terrain and scenery just keeps changing... From river crossing and thick tropical jungle like canopies to open barren terrain. We'll even pass through the Corfu Golf course. With the Minimarts and cafes that liter the route plus our support vehicle nearby water is never far away and nor are your bags for the occasional change of clothes should it rain.

Having a rest during a long run in the gorgeous Corfu
Day 6 - Thursday 18th Sept

The Crossover: 32km, 1200m - Pelekas to Paramonas

The course on day 5 takes us from the west coast to the east, over the centre of the island, and then back again! It's a long day and there's plenty of climbing, which means one thing - spectacular views! We've suggested water top ups at 5km, 14km, 17km, 21km. Plenty of hiking today to keep the group ready for the last day. Every day we will allow more or less double the time you would think to complete each distance. We're keen to take it slow. There's no need to rush.

The gorgeous Corfu coastline
Day 7 - Friday 19th Sept

The Dune Section: 35km 350m - Paramonas to Lefkimmi

The last hurrah. And what a way to go out. After covering just about every type of terrain, all that's left is a long flattish day with a hefty beach section. There's around 8km of dunes that runs along the waters edge. If it's hot we'll be exposed. Not a day to forget your hat. Our final resting place for the night is simple but perfect little hotel on the waters edge. From the loungers on the beach we'll have a view of the entire mountain range route that we've just completed. Beers, food and a chance to stuff your running gear in a bag and forget about it until you're home.

Day 8 - Saturday 20th Sept

All good things come to an end. Breakfast in the hotel, pack your bags and check out, and it's a lazy day on the beach. A well earned rest. Share photos over lunch, and your shuttle back to the airport will leave before 18:30. There are usually good flights to the UK leaving late on Saturday. [If your flight departs Corfu before 21:00 please let us know - you'll be responsible for getting yourself back to the airport on time. Our group shuttle will leave the hotel at 18:00 for those flying back in the evening.

We will be sad to see you go, but join all the Run Weekend runners and other at the Annual General Run (AGR) £22 per ticket in June every year. See our specials page.
